Decimal hours
Payroll systems usually want decimal hours: 7 h 45 min is 7.75 hours (45 ÷ 60). The result shows both formats. If the end time is earlier than the start time, the shift is treated as running past midnight.

Divide the minutes by 60. 30 minutes is 0.5 hours; 15 minutes is 0.25.
